Improving Yourself and the World Through Kindness
Many people like to commit random acts of kindness, to help others with no expectation of a reciprocal action. These people believe that their “”reward”" is the feeling that comes with knowing they have done something nice for another person. It enriches their own lives and makes them better people despite the fact that no one has given them anything material in return. Inspirational speaker Michael J. Chase believes that living in a kind manner, treating oneself and other people and the Earth in a positive way, will improve one’s health, relationships, and overall life.
Chase is a unique person. He did not experience much kindness in his early life; rather, he endured hard times that caused him to do much soul searching. Eventually, he had a startling and profound realization that completely turned his life around. Rather than keep this new knowledge for himself along, he decided to share it with others and teach them what he had learned. The main way he did this was to write a book about the philosophy of kindness, which explains how spreading good feelings helps everyone in the world.
The book, called “Am I Being Kind,” guides readers and has them question their actions. Readers will learn more about themselves than they ever dreamed. They will discover that the concept of being kind involves far more than simply committing nice actions and being polite to other people. However, these acts do play a role in the overall concept of kindness. For instance, readers will find much joy in performing small acts of kindness for others, from paying for a stranger’s meal to holding a door open for the person walking in behind them.
Letting someone cut ahead of you in line is another small yet kind action. It is very easy to perform these good deeds, yet the reward for committing them is huge. The helpful person feels a great sense of good and well-being, while recipients are reminded that others will go out of their way to think about and assist strangers. In turn, they are much more inclined to perform a good deed of their own, which causes a wave of kindness that moves from person to person. Greater happiness has a beneficial impact on the entire world. Spreading positivity gives a feeling of joy to all involved.
If you are struggling in your own daily life and your personal life is unhappy you should start your own journey to bettering yourself and your life. Doing so will make you want to share this with others through acts of kindness. Others will want this for themselves too. Everyone wins!
